DESCRIPTION:-- VIRTUAL PROGRAM (via Zoom) --\n\nThe MDPAC psychotherapy t
 raining program is a year-long training course for physicians (or nurse 
 practitioners in primary care). wishing to develop a focused practice in
  psychotherapy or to increase their skills in providing psychotherapy in
  the context of a comprehensive family practice setting. While there are
  many models of therapy, it has become more apparent and empirically res
 earched that the most important factor in healing is the therapeutic all
 iance or relationship.Â  This program will focus on the basic core skill
 s required to foster, manage ruptures of, and create safety within this 
 relationship, while also learning ways to care for ourselves while carin
 g for others.\n\nEach weekend will consist of both didactic and experien
 tial components with adequate opportunities for feedback and interaction

 Sc, CCFP, CD, Capt (Ret'd)\n\nDr. Alexander is a Family Physician with a
  Focused Practice in Psychotherapy.Â She has training in Cognitive Behav
 ioural Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Trauma Psychiatry and Internal Fa
 mily Systems. She also undertook Mind-Body Medicine training through the
 Â Benson-Henry Institute for Mind-Body Medicine, specializing in treatme
 nt protocols for both Cancer and Chronic Pain. In addition to being a yo
 ga teacher, she also completed training in Mindfulness Based Stress Redu
 ction (MBSR) Group Leadership as well asÂ Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Th
 erapy (MBCT)Â Group Facilitation. She has a group psychotherapy practice
  in Oakville for people with medical illness and chronic pain. An Active
  Staff member in the Psychosocial Oncology and Palliative Care Unit at t
 heÂ Southlake Stronach Regional Cancer CentreÂ in Newmarket, she sees pa
 tients for individual and group treatment. She holds clinical appointmen
 ts in both the Departments of Psychiatry and Family & Community Medicine
  there.Â  Â \n\nDr. Robin Beardsley, MD CCFP,Â has a focused practice in
  Psychotherapy, in Ottawa. She obtained her medical Degree from the Univ
 ersity of Toronto and completed her Family Medicine Residency at the Uni
 versity of Ottawa, (1989) and is now on Faculty with the Department of F
 amily Medicine.Â  Dr. Beardsley is a member of the College of Physicians
  and Surgeons of Ontario, the Canadian College of Family Physicians, The
  Satir Institute of the Pacific, the Medical Psychotherapy Association C
 anada, and is a trained teacher in Mindful Self Compassion (2015). She h
 as had extensive training in the Satir Model and more recently has taken
  training in Internal Family Systems (Level 1).Â  Â She has had over twe
 nty yearsâ€™ experience in a Balint Group, which provides peer support f
 or physicians regarding the doctor- patient relationship issues. She has
  always been interested in caregiver well-being.\n\nDr. Alison Arnot BSc
 , MD. CCFP, FCFP,Â Psychotherapist with a focused practice in substance 
 use and concurrent disorders\n\nDr. Alison Arnot is an MD Psychotherapis
 t with a focused practice in substance use and concurrent disorders. Dr.
  Arnot graduated from medical school at the University of Ottawa in 1981
 . She completed her family medicine residency at the University of Toron
 to in 1983, followed a year of emergency medicine. She was a partner at 
 Credit Valley Family Practice Associatesfrom1988-2009 where she provided
  comprehensive care including emergency medicine and obstetrics. She joi
 ned the treatment team at the Addiction & Concurrent Disorders Centre at
  the Credit Valley Hospital in 1997. She also worked part-time at the He
 alth & Counselling Centre at the University of Toronto Mississauga campu
 s from 2000-2015.She opened a solo practice in the community when the Ad
 diction Treatment Program at the hospital ended in order to provide cont
 inuity of care to her patients. She is a Certificant and Fellow of the C
 ollege of Family Physicians of Canada and a lecturer in the Department o
 f Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Dr. Arnot 
 is a member of the Board of the MD Psychotherapy Association of Canada a
 nd a mentor in the Medical Mentoring in Addictions and Pain program orga
 nized by the Ontario College of Family Physicians.\n\nDr. Kyle Greenway 
 MD, MSc\n\nDr. Kyle Greenway is an R5 in Psychiatry at McGill University
  and member of the Clinician Investigator Royal College Program. He has 
 a deep clinical and research interest in the integration of psychotherap
 y and psychopharmacology, spanning from conventional antidepressants to 
 novel psychedelic treatments. He is currently co-leading the first rando
 mized controlled trial to investigate the hemodynamic, inflammatory, and
  clinical effects of adjunctive music to intravenous ketamine for severe
 ly resistant unipolar and bipolar depression. He is passionate about psy
 chodynamic psychotherapy and third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies,
  particularly Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.\n\nDr. Elizabeth Parson
 s, MD CCFP MDPAC(C)Â completed her Family Medicine residency in Northeas
 tern Ontario in 1999 and has had a focused practice in psychotherapy sin
 ce 2007. She has training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy (level 2) and In
 ternal Family Systems Therapy (level 1) and continues to engage in learn
 ing. In 2020 she is taking courses in Psychodrama and Ecopsychology as w
 ell deepening her work in SP with Advanced Training in Complex Trauma an
 d Dissociation and a level 2 training in IFS for couples. She has experi
 ence running short-term DBT-style groups and is in the process of develo
 ping IFS-based groups in her practice in Ottawa. Since 2017, Elizabeth h
 as been on the Board of Directors for MDPAC and has been the Chair since
  2018.\n\nDr. Conrad Sichler graduated from McGill Medical School in 199
 8 and completed his family medicine residency at Queens University in 20
 01.Â  He then did a de facto supervised fellowship in addiction medicine
  psychotherapy for 2.5 years.Â  He joined an integrative family medicine
  practice in Burlington, Ontario in 2004 and continued to provide mostly
  psychotherapy to populations with both addictions and all of lifeâ€™s o
 ther challenges and diagnoses.Â  He has provided both individual and gro
 up psychotherapy in the intervening 19 years, has taught mindfulness, an
 d treated health care providers with addictive disorders, as well as ser
 ving as an independent medical examiner, mostly for the College of Nurse
 s, for over a decade.Â  In the past 5-10 years, he has focussed more int
 ently on the diagnosis and treatment of the trauma that drives many ment
 al and emotional disorders, and has settled into a clinical practice wit
 h an approach primarily oriented around Interal Family Systems (IFS) as 
 an approach.Â  He is currently serving on the Board of the MDPAC and als
 o as the organizationâ€™s president.Â  He enjoys teaching, music, outdoo
 r adventures, and being a grateful guest and sharing in ceremony.Â \n\nD
 r James Whyte BScN, MD, CCFPÂ is a Family Physician with a focused pract
 ice in psychotherapy.Â  He sits on the Executive committee of the PCMH s
 ection of OMA and On the BOD for MDPAC.Â  He is formerly a professor at 
 the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and Tyndale University.Â  He has
  an interest in Supportive Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Biofeedbac
 k.Â Â \n\nDr. Harry Zeit MD, MDPAC(C) Certified in Sensorimotor Psychoth
 erapy currently works full-time practicing trauma therapy and psychother
 apy. He is certified in sensorimotor psychotherapy. Dr. Zeit previously 
 worked as an American board-certified emergency physician in Cambridge a
 nd Toronto, Ontario, between 1983 and 2005.\n\nDr. Zeit is an advocate f
 or trauma-informed and humane medical and mental health care. He is pass
 ionate about teaching and about cultivating the healing potential of tra
 ditional modalities integrated with newer somatic and neuroscience infor
 med models.\n\nDr. Zeit recently began running trauma-informed groups ba
 sed on creating a felt sense of safety and connection, combining sensori
 motor psychotherapy, internal family systems, yoga and relational models

 mized controlled trial to investigate the hemodynamic, inflammatory, and
  clinical effects of adjunctive music to intravenous ketamine for severe
 ly resistant unipolar and bipolar depression. He is passionate about psy
 chodynamic psychotherapy and third-wave cognitive behavioural therapies,

  psychotherapy for 2.5 years.Â  He joined an integrative family medicine
  practice in Burlington, Ontario in 2004 and continued to provide mostly
  psychotherapy to populations with both addictions and all of lifeâ€™s o
 ther challenges and diagnoses.Â  He has provided both individual and gro
 up psychotherapy in the intervening 19 years, has taught mindfulness, an
 d treated health care providers with addictive disorders, as well as ser
 ving as an independent medical examiner, mostly for the College of Nurse
 s, for over a decade.Â  In the past 5-10 years, he has focussed more int
 ently on the diagnosis and treatment of the trauma that drives many ment
 al and emotional disorders, and has settled into a clinical practice wit

 raining program is a year-long training course for physicians (or nurse 
 practitioners in primary care). wishing to develop a focused practice in
  psychotherapy or to increase their skills in providing psychotherapy in
  the context of a comprehensive family practice setting. While there are
  many models of therapy, it has become more apparent and empirically res
 earched that the most important factor in healing is the therapeutic all
 iance or relationship.Â  This program will focus on the basic core skill
 s required to foster, manage ruptures of, and create safety within this 
 relationship, while also learning ways to care for ourselves while carin
