The members listed have stated that they are either taking new patients or have a short waiting list. They are all currently licensed to practise medicine in their own provinces or territories. However, it could occur that a given physician may have restrictions affecting her or his practice. Please note that MDPAC is not a licensing body & is not involved in licensing issues, therefore if you are considering contacting any of these physicians & have any questions or concerns please contact that physician’s provincial or territorial medical college.

My approach for potential patients:
After a brief telephone conversation to determine if there is likely to be a fit between patient need and therapist orientation and if it will be possible to conduct treatment in a regularly scheduled manner, I meet with the potential patient for 3-4 assessment visits to get a more comprehensive history of their difficulty. This is followed by a discussion of that process and decision with regard to proceeding or not together. The therapy itself is based on a "free associative" approach for the patient complemented by an empathically attuned receptive listening on the analyst's part with a view to revealing more unconscious conflicts/dynamics and their relevance to the patient's ongoing life difficulties. The process is particularly attentive to how these deeper issues emerge in the Transference and Countertransference.
