Certificant Membership

To become a Certificant Member, one needs to be licensed to practice medicine in Canada, a member in good standing with MDPAC, and have;

  • at least 90 hours of formal psychotherapy training and 200 hours of psychotherapy practice experience, or;
  • 1000 hours paid professional work as a psychotherapist engaged in scheduled, focused psychotherapy

Plus;

  • at least 100 hours of psychotherapy supervision (individual or group)
  • at least 50 hours of personal growth work
  • two intensive psychotherapy conferences attended in the past four years
  • two references from colleagues.

Upon successful submission of your application and review by a committee, you will be awarded Certificant Membership in MDPAC, and will be able to use the designation MDPAC(C) (Certification by the Medical Psychotherapy Association Canada). You will then be responsible for maintaining these credentials through ongoing membership in MDPAC and completing the required CPD hours.
