MDPAC Teleconferece - Benefits and Challenges of Providing Group Treatment to People with Substance Use Issues

This presentation will outline the benefits and challenges of providing treatment to people with substance use issues within a group setting. Research findings and limitations will be discussed.

Methods used in implementing and evaluating specific group formats such as drop-in and series groups will be explored.

ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

Dr. Ashok Krishnamurthy, MD, CCFP , fellowship in Addiction Medicine, founder and clinician at AAPRICOT, an addictions medicine consultation service, and consultant to St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Women’s College Hospital where he runs group therapy sessions for people with substance use disorders. 

Dr. Leslie Molnar, MSW, RSW, psychotherapist at Women’s College Hospital in General Psychiatry / Mental Health in Medicine Program.
