Joins us for An Introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) as we discuss the definition of insomnia, overview of basic concepts of CBT-I, discussion of sleep medication, techniques of CBT-I: Cognitive restructuring, Sleep Scheduling, Sleep medication tapering, Stimulus control techniques, Relaxation Techniques, and Sleep Hygiene.
We will analyze a Sleep Log of a patient and participate in Q&A to consolidate the information.
Accredited by MDPAC for 1.5 hours of Group CE Credits.

A follow-up to CBT-I Part 1, this session will allow participants to analyze a sleep log ( possibly in smaller groups ) and discuss together how to plan for the next week's homework for the patient.
The last 15 minutes of the session will be Q&A in the large group, to discuss the sleep log / any other concepts to discuss / clarify.
Accredited by MDPAC for 1 hour of Group CE Credits.
NOTE: You are not permitted to attend Part 2 without having participated in CBT-I Part 1.
Both sessions will be presented by Dr. Mary Ann Gorcsi MD, CCFP, FCFP
Dr. Mary Ann Gorcsi is a family physician practicing in Brantford Ontario for over 23 years. She completed medical school at Western University in 1996 and residency in family medicine at McMaster. Her interest in mental health has led her to a part time psychotherapy practice, being a resource for her patients and those of her colleagues in her group. She is an Assistant Professor in the dept. of Family Medicine at McMaster University, having taught Mental Health and Behavioural Sciences curriculum to residents for 22 years. She presented CBT-I as part of a 4 week enrichment program for the last 2 years and has been well attended and well received.
