February 28, 2024, 7:00 - 8:00 PM
The webinar will offer a check in for the participants naming any hopes for the evening, followed by an introduction to the profession of expressive art therapy. Closure which offers a take away or "harvesting" from the experience.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
I hope participants receive inspiration, a creative look at their own clients.
Each of us has access to sensory, imaginative and emotional experiences which offer us the avenue to express ourselves creatively.
An understanding that creativity can offer clients a deeper sense of themselves and therefore empowerment.
Even when we don't have a lot of art materials we can use our imaginations, metaphors, take the words and images of clients and offer poetic dialogue and more.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Janine Hancock is an artist, a practising expressive art therapist and a registered psychotherapist. She obtained her B.A. in Fine Art in the early 80's and began working in the school system as an educational assistant. She took a leap of faith leaving her job after getting her M.A. in Expressive Therapies to begin her own practice, 30 years ago. During that time she worked at Toronto General Hospital for twenty years in the psychiatric ward. There she offered groups to patients suffering from eating disorders, patients in the general ward and in the acute care unit. She loves what she does and maintains a curious and playful attitude in her life. Janine is in the process of publishing her first book called Painting , Poetry and the Process of Expressive Art Therapy. One of her favorite quotes is by Ghandi. "Live as if you will die tomorrow and learn as if you will live forever." She hopes that this webinar will offer inspiration to the participants.
