This is an important update regarding advocacy work for physician psychotherapy.
The Coalition for Saving OHIP-Funded, Physician-Delivered Psychotherapy has facilitated and guided the development of an opinion editorial (Op-Ed) regarding physician psychotherapy that was authored by Dr. Chase McMurren, Dr. Arieg Badawi and Dr. Conrad Sichler (Dr. Walter Owsianik was also involved in the collaboration regarding the Op-Ed).
This ground-breaking Op-Ed was published yesterday (June 1, 2021) in the National Post (p.A11) and approximately 11 additional Ontario newspapers (see full list of newspapers below).
The following is the link to the Op-Ed from the National Post website:
We believe that it is extremely important that as many people as possible share the above link on their social media accounts, such as LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. This will ensure that we obtain further public awareness about our cause – which will help influence Government action. In order to work off the traction gained by the Op-Ed, MDPAC encourages our members to post this link today or as soon as possible thereafter. Feel free to use the sample statement below when sharing the Op-Ed on your own social media:
Please see an important opinion piece that was just published in the National Post and 11 other Ontario newspapers discussing concerning issues that could compromise the ongoing provision of physician-delivered psychotherapy – and the steps to be taken to ensure that this essential OHIP-funded service remains accessible.
